Getting Married

Wedding Couple with ring

Legal Bits

All three churches are available to hold weddings for those who live in the area or who have a connection with the area. You do not need to be baptised or christened to be married in these churches. The present Vicar will marry those who have been divorced. The Vicar is also a registrar of marriages so you do not need to book and pay for a registrar to come from County Hall – the Vicar performs the legal necessities as well as the service all within the same price.

If you wish to arrange for the Vicar to conduct your wedding service please come and see him at St Samlet’s Church on Saturday. He is always there (except for holidays) at 10.00am to agree a date and time for the service and to answer any questions you may have.

Your special Day

We try very hard to help you prepare and enjoy your special day to the full.

The Church Choir can be booked to help with singing the two hymns that you can choose and they will sing while you sign the marriage registers.

The Organist is a very talented musician who was an organ scholar at Oxford University and will play your wedding music for you.

Flowers. The church can be decorated by your own florist. There are some flower arrangements that can be hired from the church if you prefer.

Photographers and videographers are hired by yourselves and can sensitively capture your day on film.

The Verger is available on Wednesdays, at the wedding rehearsal and on the day to arrange opening the church and assist your ushers and the general hospitality for your guests.
