St. Samlet's, Llansamlet St. John's, Birchgrove St. Paul's, Glais

St. Paul's Church, Glais

The little church in Glais was built in 1881 to serve the small mining village of Glais. The church was opened on 23rd of September and so 2011 saw its 130th anniversary.

The church was extensively restored in 1995 after major structural problems were identified. The original appearance of the chancel was retained while the main body of the church was turned into a multipurpose building able to serve the varying needs of the community.


There is a service on the 2nd and 4th Sunday at 9.30 am. All are most welcome to attend.

St Paul’s Social and Fundraising Group
There are regular events organised by the congregation to raise a smile and funds. Each year there is a harvest supper and a pancake supper. There is an annual strawberry tea, quizzes in the local pub and more.

Parent and Toddlers group
This meets every Friday morning and they welcome new members.

St Paul’s Youth Club
This is a thriving youth group for youngsters between the ages of 8 and12. They meet every Tuesday in the  church between 6.30 and 8.00 and enjoy a wide variety of  activities in the church and on the all weather play area beside it.
